01. / About
NetEquity is an infrastructure sharing start-up based in San Francisco, CA. We have developed a globally scalable business model that can build an open access fiber network in every country within a decade.
We plan to deploy fiber along electrical grid infrastructure using a technology that can rapidly deploy fiber at a cost of few dollars per meter. We will pair this technology with a financing structure that treats fiber like a public utility.
Level the playing field for human aspiration.
Make high speed Internet access affordable for every human within a decade.
Follow the electrical grid to deploy fiber, finance fiber like a utility and create an open access network.
100% population has access to high speed Internet.

02. / thesis
Following the electrical grid to deploy fiber, financing fiber like a utility and distributing bandwidth through an open access network can modernize the electrical grid and bridge the digital divide with one investment.
03. / solution
NetEquity assumes early stage project risk, assembles a feasible deal, deploys a fiber network and ensures open access.
04. / principles
The NetEquity financing model treats fiber like a utility and is based on the following 10 principles:
1. Open access: The deployed fiber network will be equally accessible to all customers and will be prohibited from entering into exclusive contracts.
2. Wholesale only: The fiber network will provide wholesale bandwidth services only and will be prohibited from offering retail services.
3. Lit service: Bandwidth will be provided as a lit-service to endpoints.
4. Capped returns: The equity owners of fiber network will be entitled to a fixed or formula driven return subject to performance benchmarks.
5. Benefit sharing: Financial benefits arising from more endpoints connected will be shared with all stakeholders.
6. Rural first: The fiber network will be incentivized to execute on a rural-first strategy.
7. Local ownership: Financing schemes will be created for local managers to achieve majority ownership of the fiber network.
8. Connectivity as KPI: Management team’s bonus will be tied to number of endpoints connected and fiber penetration in rural areas.
9. Network transparency: Fiber pop locations and fiber maps to be made publicly available.
10. Uniform and transparent: Pricing per endpoint will be uniform for all.
